Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a section of the Engineering Department that maintains a database that is linked to known geographic locations and represented as graphical content on a map.  GIS provides advanced capabilities for display, manipulation, and analysis of mapped and non-mapped data to help users visualize and better understand geographic relationships. GIS is used for many projects such as Land Use Planning, Utilities Mapping, Building Permitting and Road Patrol Management.
