Water & Waste Water Rates

Council, on December 16, 2013 passed By-Law #2013-185 “Fees and Charges Amendment No. 18″ By-Law to set the following
Water and Wastewater User Rates effective April 1st, 2014:

WATER RATES (Metered Services)

  1. Each metered service shall be billed as a separate customer. The metered rates per billing period shall be as follows:
    All volumes at a rate of  $1.82 /M3
  2. Notwithstanding Clause (1), Industrial Block users that use over 30,000 cubic meters per year shall pay a water charge of $1.34 /M3.
  3. Notwithstanding Clause (1) and (2), Baxter Corporation shall pay a water charge of $1.00 /M3.

WASTEWATER RATES (Metered Services)

  1. Each metered water service and each sewage flow meter shall be billed as a separate customer. The metered rates per billing period shall be as follows:
    All volumes at a rate of  $1.82 /M3
  2. Notwithstanding Clause (1), Baxter Corporation shall pay a Sewage Service charge of $1.82 /M3 based on the previously agreed upon estimated bi-monthly sewage of 17,302 M3 to go to $1.82 /M3 based on actual sewage flows when they install a sewage flow meter, billed monthly.
  3. Notwithstanding Clause (1), Simcoe Manor shall pay a Sewage Service charge of $54.60 flat rate bi-monthly for the number of equivalent households their operation represents (158 residents · 3.2 per household = 50) being 50 x $54.60 = $2,730.00 bi-monthly. An amount of $1,365.00 will be billed monthly.
  4. Notwithstanding Clause (1), Non Metered Customers will pay a sewage charge of $54.60 per billing period.

BILLING CYCLES

Customers with average monthly water consumption over 200 cubic meters per month will be billed monthly. Customers with average monthly water consumption under 200 cubic meters per month will be billed quarterly with payments due on the 15th day of the following months:

PENALTY FOR LATE PAYMENT

If payment is not received by the specified due date, a penalty equal to 5% of the outstanding amount shall be added to the bill and become receivable.

Sewage bills shall be payable to the Corporation on or before the due date and shall be payable at the Municipal Office, 10 Wellington Street East, Alliston, Ontario or at most financial institutions.  Payments made at a financial institution shall be deemed to be paid to the Corporation on the date shown by the Teller’s stamp on the bill stub.  The resident (or presenter of the bill) will be responsible to pay any applicable service charge to the financial institution accepting the payment.  Payment can be left at municipally approved drop box locations or by applying for the pre-authorized payment plan at the Municipal Office.  Most financial institutions provide payment service through electronic funds transfer.
