About the Mayor

Mayor Rick Milne has been on the Town of New Tecumseth Council and Councillor of the County of Simcoe since 2000.

Prior to his role as Mayor, Rick Milne was the Deputy Mayor of the Town of New Tecumseth from 2000 to 2014 and Mayor of the Town of Alliston from 1985 to 1991 when it amalgamated and became a part of the Town of New Tecumseth and again from 1995-1997.

As the Mayor of New Tecumseth, Milne leads a council that includes a deputy mayor and eight councillors that represent eight different wards. He is also a member of the upper tier government, the County of Simcoe.

Comprised of four communities, Alliston, Beeton, Tottenham and Tecumseth, The Town of New Tecumseth has a population of about 30,000.

A retired paramedic and police officer, Mayor Milne sits on the County of Simcoe’s Human Services Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Small Urban Municipalities (OSUM) and an active member of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO).

Mayor Milne is president and member of the Alliston Potato Festival Organizing Committee. Rick is involved in Matthew’s House, the Tottenham and Beeton Chamber of Commerce, Alliston Lions Club, Food Bank, Odd Fellows, Mason’s and Big Brothers.

Rick is a father, a grandfather and a great grandfather. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, attending stock car races and organizing concerts in the park.
