In 2017, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) updated the assessed values of every property in Ontario. All properties will have a legislated valuation date of January 1, 2016. These values will be used by the Town of New Tecumseth to calculate your property taxes for the 2017-2020 property tax years.
If property owners feel their assessed value and/or property classification is not correct, MPAC will review it, free of charge. Property owners can do this by filing a Request for Reconsideration form, available at www.mpac.ca. They can also write a letter to MPAC requesting reconsideration. The deadline for filing a Request for Reconsideration is March 31st, 2018.

Your property taxes are determined by multiplying the Current Value or “Assessment” of your property by the annual Tax Rate for the property type or “Property Class”. The 2017 Total Tax Rates for each property class in New Tecumseth are shown below. These tax rates include Town, County,and Education Taxes.

For example, a Residential Property Valued or “Assessed” at $100,000 multiplied by the 2017 Residential Tax Rate of 1.012865% yields a 2017 Residential Tax Total of $1,012.86 which is broken down as follows:
$ 294.54 (Including Waste Management)

2018 Tax Due Dates
For 2017, residential property tax payments are due on the following dates:
- Feb 28, 2018
- Apr 30, 2018
- June 29, 2018
- Sept 28, 2018
The cost of a tax certificate is $45.00 per roll number. Tax certificates can be obtained going to the Town Office at 10 Wellington Street East, Alliston or by contacting the Tax Clerk at 705-435-3900 x1255.
